Beyond Terror Beyond Grace Interview

1. Can you give us a brief history of the band?

The band formed towards the end of the 2004 as a result of 4 guys
sharing a similar interest in, and desire to create, extreme music.
After a few months of mucking around we started to write our own songs.
We then recorded a demo which enabled us to get on a few shows around
Sydney. We cut our teeth playing some good and bad shows for a year or
so and then recorded our first album Extinction Salvation. Touring for
that album took us around Australia and New Zealand playing with some
great bands that we have long respected. Through that time we wrote some
20 odd songs and we are currently recording them for our 2nd album which
will hopefully come out at the end of this year.

2. How would you describe your sound to someone whohas never heard you
before?

We write intense, fast and heavy songs in a grindcore framework but we
try to include many different sounds and influences such as
death/black/noise. This is especially true in regards to our newest
material. We listen to a wide variety of music and it all comes through
when we get together to write songs and lyrics. We are a mix of rotten
sound meets converge and his hero is gone.

3. What is the meaning behind the bands name?

As annoying or wanky as this may sound there is no concrete meaning to
the bands name. We would also never say it meant one thing or another as
that would limit the interpretations on the words. It come from a david
mamet play.

4. What releases have you put out so far?
Still Human, Still Humane EP (Grindhead Records)
The Age of Silent Fear EP - self released
ExtinctionSalvation CD - Grindhead Records
SplitsBTBG/SMG Split Tape Selfmadegod records
BTBG/NAGATION [Malaysia]/CARDIAC NECROPSY/[Singapore]/ EXTREME DECAY/

CompilationsGrindcore 2009 CD
Adrenalize 2009 -

Europevarious comps in Philiphines, Malaysia, Indonesia

5. How would you describe your musical progress over thw years?

Early on we were pretty much attempting to just emulate bands such as
Napalm Death. Whether we did a good job or not is another thing entirely
lol. Over time we have come across some really exciting and inspiring
bands such as Nasum, Isis, Ulcerate etc who have opened up new horizons
for us as far as riffs, structures, drum patterns and the like. We've
also realised that you can include a wide range of sounds and still
retain intensity and extremity.

6. What are some of the best shows that you have played so far and which
crowds would you say are the best or craziest?

Supporting Carcass and Pig Destroyer is right up there. We went down
well at both of those shows and playing a big sold out venue like The
Metro in Sydney with Carcass was a very memorable experience for all of
us. Our craziest crowd to date has been in Adelaide. People went nuts
when we played there.Grindcore 2009 in Melbourne was a great show as grind fans really got
into our style of grind.

7. Are there any plans for a U.S or European tour?

It's something we'd love to do but there are no concrete plans. We are
open to offers!

8. What direction do you see the band going into during the future?

I'd say our future material will have a weird kind of duality about it.
Some songs may be longer, others may be amongt the shortest we've
written. Some sections and riffs might be very melodic while others will
definatley be extremely harsh and discordant. It is hard to see us
abandoning the 'grindcore' base entirely but I think future material may
be even more diverse. We don't mind what direction it goes as long as it
keeps us excited enough to keep writing more.

9. What are your main influences music wise or non music wise?

Musically, bands such as Nasum, Rotten Sound, Circle of Dead Children,
The Amenta, Converge, His Hero is Gone,Isis, Ulcerate, Buried Inside
etc..Outside of music our lyrical inspiration usually comes from books,
art, current events and the like.

10. What are you listening to nowadays and what are some good bands or
releases that you would recommend?

12. How would you describe the grindcore scene in your home country?

Solid gore grind bands like the day eveything became nothing and fuck
I'm dead and old school napalm style grind like the kill, blooduster and
super fun happy slide. Melbourne is the main city with a big grind
following that hosts a cool Grindcore fest each year. Not much grind
that is a bit more varied or experimental. Lots of bands being
thelocust/daughters influenced that claim to be grind but are really
converge clones.

13. Any final words?

Check our new album when it comes out. If you like it, please buy it.We are looking for a label to release the new album on too in Europe and
USA.
If any bands that want to head to Australia then contact us as we are
willing to help book tours for intense bands. Also any bands that can help us out in touring in Europe or USA in 2010
contact us.Thanks for the interview and cool questions.Email: beyondterrorbeyondgrace@hotmail.com

Synapse Defect/MP3's Review

Synapse Defect are a band from Atlanta, Georgia that plays a mixture of death metal, grindcore, noise, hardcore and a little bit of a black metal influence and this is a review of their MP3's from their website.

Drums sound very technical with alot of fast parts mixed in with some brutal sounding blast beats, while the bass playing seems to have a simple punk/grind feel and the riffs follow the guitars and drums.

Guitars on the MP3's are mostly rythms with alot of fast riffs which sound technical at times and you can hear some very noisy parts as well, while the vocals are mostly death/grind growls mixed with some high pitched screams as well as the ocasional pig squel which is not really my kind of thing, maybe it is an age thing.

Production on the MP3's sounds good and you can hear all of the instruments, while the lyrics seem to cover humorous topics. In my opinion this band is very good for the style of grindcore they play and while this is not really a style I listen to that often, I feel this band is really good and I can hear some talent and they seem to be true to their music which is a good thing and a takes alot for a newer grindcore band to catch my attention and Synapse Defect suceeds where others have fail.

RU-486 Interview

1. Can you tell us a little bit about the project for those that have never heard of you before?
"RU-486 is a Power Electronics/Industrial project that sometimes strays into the harsh noise realm. It is a one man wrecking ball filled with anger, hate and disgust for a lot of humanity yet also a serious and fully realized vision of what I enjoy to do sonically."

2. What are some of the equipment that you use to create your sound?
"I will use just about anything to create a certain sound whether it be scrap metal, junk iron, corrugated items, contact mics, various pedals, motors, vibrators, drums, guitar, bass, voice, synth, circuit bent items, trash cans and so much more. I put no limits on what I use for sounds but scrap metal with a contact mic and distortion/delay running into a four track is what tickles my fancy the most."

3. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the projects name?
"RU-486 is the morning-after pill, used in terminating an early pregnancy. It is a brutal and violent process. I wanted a name that verbally meant what I felt towards what I gear my hatred towards, and that is humanity. I view the RU-486 pill as a tool for population control and wished it could be used on adults who are worthless as well. I hate the majority of people I come in contact with and thought the name itself in one word describes my ill feelings towards them. Thus, the decision to use that name. Though I am also heavily influenced from things such as large infrastructures, broken down industrial equipment, chemical plants at night, steel and iron. So it's not always such a negative output."

4. Have you had any oppurtunities to do any live shows yet, if so what are some of the best shows that you have played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
"I have played a decent handful of shows under the RU-486 moniker, as well as many others under different ones, mostly in Texas, being that the scene there is a strong and healthy one and we have a lot of close friends and colleagues in the noise scene there, and we also live a mere 6 hours drive from there. The best shows have been in Houston and Dallas, in my opinion. Always at least a decent turnout, decent merch sales and a hungry audience ready for sonic and physical violence during performances. A major salute to Richard Ramirez and the rest of my Texas family while I am on the subject. An RU-486 gig to a newcomer might seem too violent or aggressive, and the audience does get attacked and/or maimed at times, but this is necessary for me due to the cathartic relief I get from it. Where I live, there is no noise scene, only a tiny handful of us that support it and each other and I can count them all on literally, one hand. The "scene" here consists of myself, Hierchiss/Biological Girl, Churner/Violent Noise Atrocities, Goatlab and around the bend in Louisiana, our friends in Slaughter-Fetus/Human Ignorance. So, in closing about the live performance, what is released at gigs is a large amount of bottled aggression that has to be let out, or it would have a much MORE violent outcome."

5. What releases have you put out so far?
"Quite a few actually. At press time, for just my RU-486 project, I am about to have my 15th release, a C-77 minute cassette box set collection of all of my out of print short cassettes, unreleased stuff, compilation tracks and a few surprises/covers. It will be released on the great Texas label Disease Foundry (www.diseasefoundry.com) and will also contain a sticker, a button and a patch and the first 10 copies come in an oversized ammo box. As thy say, everything is bigger in Texas! Keep an eye out for that label too. He has some great releases and presentation. Another high note I am excited about is the Richard Ramirez/RU-486 split cassette reissue on LP version from Urashima in Italy."

6. What direction do you want to take your sound into on future releases?
"Although my roots for the project are in harsh noise/power electronics, I won't always limit myself to that. Newer recordings have showcased my love for and oldest musical influence within more industrial confines. I want to keep RU-486 fresh and try not to become too repetitious, which at times, I felt a bit stagnant. Though the newer material coming out this coming year is going to surprise some long time fans. A lot more structure and thought is put into the newer stuff and is more, composed, if you will."

7. Do you have any other projects besides this one?
"Haha, too many actually. I am the guitarist/songwriter in a 16+ year running Black Metal band called Octagon, a drummer in an old school Death Metal band called Wicked Stench, a member of infamous, 20+ year running noise band Black Leather Jesus, a member of Louisiana harsh noise band Slaughter-Fetus (alongside my girlfriend Hierchiss and two other members Vargrwulf and Bast, who also run the Human Ignorance label.) and also various electronic projects such as Mongrel, S.O.C.C. (with Churner), Linda Lovelace, Naked Girl Killed in the Park (with Richard Ramirez), Vicious Beast and some others. All are serious and active projects and NONE are throw away material to me. Each one is different from the next and each serve a paticular purpose which is needed in order to survive in this world. I do session work for multiple other bands as well."

8. How has your music been recieved by fans of noise and extreme music worldwide?
"Honestly, I have few dealings with negative reactions. Generally, at least what I get told, is that the people that listen to my work enjoy it. I'm sure there are plenty that do not, but that's ok. I'd rather have loyal, small groups of supporters than a bunch of idiots who don't get it. RU-486 fans seem the most loyal. I have made a lot of great friends all over the world through my dealings with the project and my label Destructive Industries and it continues to grow. And for that, I am very grateful."

9. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
"I grew up in a very musical family and lived all over the world due to having a father in the military, so I was constantly exposed to different cultures, art and musical expressions. First, rock and roll, then punk then industrial then electronics and heavy metal and so on. It all still influences me to this day. I can say Kraftwerk is one of my biggest influences and still amazes me today. They were light years beyond everyone. They are just as influential to me as Darkthrone, Bathory, Hawkwind, C.C.C.C., Schimpfluch Gruppe/ Runzelstirn & Gurgelstock, Black Leather Jesus and many more. As of the recent year, been listening to more noise as usual, select Black Metal that I deem worthy like Funeral Mist, Katharsis, Clandestine Blaze, even Bloodbath, though that overtly produced style of Death Metal usually appalls me. On a not so extreme side, I still love Kraftwerk, Tom Waits, Diamanda Galas, Ulver, Bogus Blimp and so many more. I'm quite eclectic, really."

10. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
"Being into the things I have discussed, of course I am a bit nerdy. I love doing graphic design, which I have done hundreds of different layouts, advertisement, flyers as well as a large portion of the releases on my record label. I love it. I am really into art. Richard Ramirez took me to The Menil Art Gallery in Houston, TX really inspired me to get back into art more heavily than I used to be. I love the history of Dada and it's older as well as modern interpretation. I like adult fetish magazines. I collected them for years but now they're like paintings on the wall. I pass them everyday yet, sometimes I have to remind myself how beautiful they are by staring at them for hours. I don't really watch t.v. unless my girlfriend has it on Animal Planet, then I'm fascinated. I love silent films, European history, World War II, nature/animals, online music trading (the REAL thing, NOT downloading, which I am against.) and I dunno, just a lot of things really. I'm not a shallow person nor am I very vague. There's a lot there, I just don't advertise it because most of these things are just little hobbies that keep me sane when I am not making/creating/destroying something."

11. Any final words or thoughts beforwe we wrap up this interview?
"If anyone feels inclined to get in touch about RU-486 or my label Destructive Industries, please feel free to visit the site or email me (destructiveindustries@yahoo.com). Thanks a lot for the interview and support,. Hails to you and your 'zine.

Noisear Interview

1. Can you update us with what is going on with Noisear these days?
We just signed to Relapse Records actually got an album coming out in feburary and we will be playing Maryland Death Fest as well as tour supporting the new album .

2. How did you get in contact with Releapse Records?
Just through mutual friends like Regurgitate, Cephalic Carnage, just pretty much through being around for the last 12 years playing sick grind in Albergurqee.

3. What kind of expectations do you have from Relapse once the new album comes out?
We are actually happy working with them and we like the way that they do promotion and distribution do they do worldwide, we are trying to get more people to try our music out, it seems to me they are speading like a wildfire in approach to back in the day when there was no internet or anything and there was only trape trading, people writing each other letters.

4. Do you have any touring plans for the new album once it comes out?
We are going to do 6 or 7 dates all the way up to Maryland Death Fest and 4 or 5 all the way back down from Baltimore back to New mexico, we might be playing a show too iwith a band from Europe, we will be doing a record release party in Alberquergee next month hopefully

5. How has the scene in New mexico been growing in the last few years?
Actually our whole band is spread out with a couple of members living in Dallas, Texas and the other 2 live in New Mexico so it is hard to get shows together and we have to plan like 3 or 4 months ahead of time everytime we do live shows.

6. Are there still any live venues out there like The Compound?
Yeah that is still going on it has moved down to a new pad and it is not known as the Compound anymore.

7. What is going on with the other project Laughing Dog these days?
Laughing Dog is still doing alot of stuff they got Jason Crawford from Nuclear Ass Records doing vocals and our bass player from Noisear is still keeping Laughing Dog going on strong actually, they do most of the shows we cant do in Alberquergee since we are scattered in different states.

8. how would you describe the musical sound of the new album that is coming out?
It is going to blow everyone away it is probably the most solid production wh have ever had, the most straight forward and the most professional recording we have ever done pretty much and it is still maintaning that whole grindcore element behind it and I think everyone is going to be surprised when they hear it, it is defianatly not what everyone is expecting, We got Rodney from Insect Warfare on there doing quest vocals on like 6 or 7 songs, it is 29 songs alltogether, the new album.

9. What are some of the lyrical subjects the new album touches on?
It is mostly political like things that are going on in the world, there are a few songs about the oil spill and there is a few songs about how the media does not cover any of the shit that is going on in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is pretty much the same topics that we have covered through the years like that everyone is brain washed in society like how that people believe in lies, and that people believe in everything that they are told and that they are not seeking the truth.

10. Out of all the places that you have toured in the last 12 years which one did you enjoy the most?
So far the only places that we have gone to has been every state in the U.S.A, there are some places that we would like to go to such as Europe, Japan or Australia or anywhere pretty much outside of the U.S is what we want to do, we want to play places like the Chezch Republic and than go to Japan if everything works and that everybody can get their shit together.

11. Do you have any other record labels working with you besides Relapse Records?
We have alot of different labels that are ready to help us out not only in the United States but over seas too like SelfMadeGodRecords in Poland and a bunch of different people willing to help us out with everybody in that band getting it together when we practice and rehears or what not.

12. What direction would you like to take the music into during the future?
We are going to try to break the envolope and barriers with something new that no one has ever heard and what no one expects.

13. How has the reaction been to your band from grindcore fans worldwide?
We just want everybody to feel the grind, blast, mosh and taking it in a different direction then having somebody kill someone or commiting crimes.

14. What are some of the bands or musical styles that have influenced your musical sound?
Discordance Axis, Abscess, Human Remains, Lithurgy, to name a few... Assuck, No Comment and stuff like that... Hail Of Rage, pretty much old school Napalm Death, Extreme Noise Terror, Anal Cunt and the most extreme grindcorein the last 20 years.

15. What are some of your influences outside of grindcore?
We also listen to jazz, underground hip hop, we listen to weird shit like fussion, experimental stuff, noise, ambient pretty much undergound hip hop and pretty much a little bit of everything.

16. What are some of your interests outside of music?
We love skateboarding, hiking, smoking weed.

17. Do you have anything else that you want to say before closing the interview?
Thanks to you for doing the interview and I appreciate the call.

Fuck The Facts/Die Miserable/Relapse Records/2011 CD Review

Fuck The Facts  are  a  band  from   Ottawa,  Canada  that  plays  a  brutal  mixture  of  grind/hardcore/crust  and  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2011  album  "Die  Miserable"  which  was  released  by  Relapse  Records.

Drums  range  from  slow,  midpaced  to fast  drumming  with  a  good  amount  of  blast  beats  being  thrown  in,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  sound  very  powerful.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  midpaced  to  fast  riffing  that  combines  crust/grind/hardcore  with  death  metal  with  some  technical  style  death  metal  riffing  being  thrown  in  at  times  as  well  as  some  clean  playing  that  utilizes  full  chords  and  finger  picking,  while  the  lead  guitars  sound  very  distorted,  technical  and  melodic  sounding.

Vocals  range  from  high  pitched  grind  screams,  hardcore  style  shouting  and  deep  death  metal  growls,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  ever  fay  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  heavy  and  powerful  sound  to  it..

In  my  opinion  Fuck  The  Facts  are  a  very  original  crust/grind/hardcore  band  with  an  original  death  metal  edge  and  if  you  are  looking  for  something  different  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECEMMONDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Drift"  "Lifeless"  and  "95".  RECEMMONDED  BUY.

All Pigs Must Die Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
The new record came out in August and we just finished a run of shows on the west coast. We have a few more one-off shows coming up in Oct/Nov, and then we'll probably spend the winter continuing writing for the next record. Touring in the winter is miserable.

2. How would you describe the musical sound of the new release and how it differs from previous releases?
It's very much in the same vein as the EP. There is a bit more variety with song lengths and speeds, but that's more a result of the time you have on an EP vs and LP than anything else.

3. What where some of the ideas behind the song writing of the new release?
The basic idea is to write songs that are as good, if not better than the last record. Otherwise the approach and process is still the same from the last record. we're abut halfway done writing the next record and we haven't changed anything writing-wise.

4. Out off all of the shows that the band has played so far which one did you enjoy the most?
We played a thrasher show in Austin and split a set with Trap Them. It was Trap Them's show and we weren't supposed to play, but to get around that we set up 2 drum kits and traded off for the whole show. TT did a song, then we did a song, etc. It was probably the most fun I've ever had playing a show.

5. Are there any plans for a European tour?
Yeah we're hoping to come over to Europe in the spring/summer of 2012. I'm not sure if we'll do a proper tour or just some festivals, but either way we're trying to make a trip to Europe happen.

6. What is going on with the other band these days?
Converge is writing and I think will be recording a new record soon. Bloodhorse has basically a new record written, but we're all busy doing other bands at the moment so I have no idea when or if that will happen. I can't really say for certain what HopeCon is up to. I'd imagine they'd do another record at some point, but that's simply an assumption on my part.

7. On a worldwide level how has your new material been received by underground music fans?
It seems like it's been fairly well received I guess? We don't pay all that much attention to reviews, but people have said positive things to us, so I'd imagine it's not being universally panned.

8. What direction do you see the band heading into on future releases?
If you've heard either of our 2 records I think you get the jist.

9. How would you describe the support that Southern Lord has given you so far?
Southern Lord has been really cool to work with. Awesome guys and they are super supportive. We get final say in everything we do and there's no pressure from them. It's been a really great working relationship so far. We couldn't be more pleased.

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced the newer material and also what are you listening to nowadays?
We take a lot of influence from bands like Integrity, Dismember, Slayer, Craft, Black Flag, Poison Idea, etc. We've all been listening to the new Craft record 'Void' a lot. There's a new track from the upcoming Leviathan record that's been posted and it's vicious. Really looking forward to that record to come out.

11. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
I work as a graphic designer/illustrator full time, so I'm usually looking at design books if I'm not playing guitar. Or looking up ridiculous shit on the internet.

12. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
Anyone interested can keep up to date with what we're up to at facebook.com/apmdband or twitter.com/allpigsmustdie. Thanks for listening.

Agatocles/This Is Not A Threat It Is A Promise/SelfMadeGod Records/2011 CD Review

Agathocles are a band from Belguim that play a mixture of noisecore, crust and grindcore and are also known  as the creators of mincecore who have also had their music reviewed before in this zine and this is a review of  their 2010 album "This Is Not A Threat It Is A Promise" which was released by SelfMadeGodRecords.

Drums alternate between midpaced to fast drumming with alot of brutal blast beats, while the bass playing follows the riffs that are coming out of the guitars and at times they have a thick and heavy tone that dominate  throughout the album.

Rhythm guitars are mostly midpaced to fast crust/noise/grindcore riffs and there are no lead guitars or solos present on this recording.

Vocals are a mixture of high pitched grindcore screams with alot of deep death metal growls being thrown in as as well as some hardcore influenced vocals and the brief clean singing parts, while the lyrics touch on political issues and everyday themes, as for the production it sounds very professional and you can hear all of  the instruments that are present on this recording.

In my opinion this is another good album from Agathocles and if you enjoyed their previous works you should  enjoy this album as well. RECEMMONDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Black Tea" "People's Party" "Financial Cris-is" and "After The Battle". RECEMMONDED BUY

Agathocles/Black Clouds Determine/Cyber Music/1995 CD Review

Agathocles are a band from Belguim that has a history that dates back as far as the 1980's and are known as the creators of mincecore which is a crust/noise/grindcore hyybrid and this is a review of their 1995 album "Black Clouds Determine" which was released by Cyber Music.

Drums are mostly fast drumming with alot of brutal blast beats with some midpaced parts being used at times, while the bass playing is all simple rhythm bass that follows the riffs coming out of the guitars and at times it has a heavy and powerful sound.

Guitars are all fast rhythm's that give grind/crust and noisecore together with some heavy midpaced riffing being used at times that has a death metal feel and there are no guitar leads or solos present on the album.

Vocals are a mixture of deep death metal growls and high pitched grindcore screams with some ocassional crust/hardcore style yelling vocals, while the lyrics cover political type issues with an extreme left wing liberal approach which is common in crust and D Beat, as for the production it has a raw feel that makes the music sound very primitive.

In my opinion Agathocles are a very good crust/noise/grind band and if you are a fan of those styles you probably have already heard this band.
RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Megalomaniac Stupidity" "Triple Murder Flesh" "Musicianship-Musicianshit" and "Teachers". RECOMMENDED BUY.

I think I would have to call it punk influenced death metal gettin fucked in the ass by some old school hardcore i guess! play fast with a few breakdowns here and there! I just write what I write and this is what comes out! Yay grind!!

3. What is the meaning behind the band's name?
Aberrant means: straying from the right course, deviation of the norm.... fuck yes isn't that what we're all doing deviating from the norm?

4. I have noticed alot of line-up changes over the years, who is in the current line-up?
Chris-guitar...JP-the drummer...Alton-vocals

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far?
with Magrudergrind in 04 cuz they kick ass....with Wasteoid at Monkey Mania...with Axes to the Sky in a basement in Lincoln people crowd surfing...um a basement show in Pueblo we played was pretty sick....Fall of the Bastards/Wormwood show was epic. Lincoln, Nebraska just rules everytime we've went...tripping shrooms in Minneapolis after Cutthroat Hoods/Useless Wooden Toys show.. Cant forget the show @ BarBar that was epic people were breaking shit left and right..

6. According to your Myspace page you have some shows lined up for Japan, how did you get the hhok up for the shows?
umm a lot of begging and begging and some more begging and I think Chop has to buy kneepads for the trip, but yea we're on this years GRIND FREAKS FEST at Huck Finn and will play two other shows with DARGE from Japan.... we can't wait!! Also lined up for March 1-14 2011 is a Brazilian tour...you don't wanna ask what we had to do for that...

7. How would you describe the lyrical content of the music?
Well, I've got some weird obsession with fucking people up, maybe I watch to many gore/exploitation flicks or my momma didn't hold me but yea I write a lot about that... some odes to older tunes...ie.. Minor Threats' "Betray"...Kreators' "Betrayer"... some just about how I feel that day, or possibly the operation instructions for my new generator?

8. Out off all the releases that you have put out so far which one are you the most satisfied with?
COMPLETE GRINDWORKS 2xLP for sure......

9. I know that the band originated in Colorado, then located to Alabama and then came back to Colorado, how would you compare the grindcore scene in both states?
Well the band never moved to Alabama, Chris did for work reasons and the og drummer lives there, so we gave it a shot, but didnt work out! Aberrant will always be 303! Alabama doesnt have much for grind but they have a pretty tight little scene any band rollin through will get a good show!! Colorado scene fuckin rules but is has it drama just like every scene haha!!

10. How would you describe your musical progress over the years and what direction do you see the music heading into on future relses?
Like Chris said we play what we like/how we feel. The rest falls into place. We hope to deliver faster more brutal work but who knows what comes to the surface...maybe an ode to Bathory or Venom...

11. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and what are you listening to nowadays?
Damn, I'm a huge music fan, i've got thousands of records(not embelishing either). I love old school El Dopa, Ojo Rojo, Integrity, Sheer Terrror, Reagan Youth, Code 13, Destroy, Assrash, Repulsion, Terrorizer, Adrenalin OD!!, Circle Jerks, Laughing Dog(homies), Haemorrage, Machetazo, 324, Iron Maiden!!!, Tankard, Budgie, Black Sabbath, Blue Cheer, Johnny Cash, the new Magrudergrind stuff slays.... 12. What are some of your interests outside of music?

Meat Shits/Ecstasy Of Death/Moribund Records/1993 CD Review

Meat Shits are a band from the Bay Area of California that help create a genre known as porno grind/noisecore and this is a review of their 1993 album "Ecstasy Of Death" which was released by Moribund Records.

Drums range from midpaced to fast paying with some brutal blast beats, while the drum programming uses a slow beat on the slower songs that gives the music an industrial edge with some percussion being used at times, as for the bass playing it has a very powerful and distorted tone that utilizes bass leads at times.

Rhythm guitars rnge from slow and midpaced riffing that is death metal as well as thrash influenced to some fast playing that has alot of brutality and grindcore riffs, while the lead guitars combine fast guitar solos with a small amount of melody.

Vocals are mostly low pitched death metal growls with some high pitched grindcore screams, with some demented female vocals being used on one song, while the samples come home from talk shows, porno films and horror films, as for the lyrics they are mostly porno with some gore and anti christian themes.

Production on this album which was recorded from January to June 93 at Selective Frequencies Recordind Studios in Sacramento, CA sounds very professional and you can hear all of the musical instruments that are on this album, while the cover artworkhas a corpse coming out of the grave to have sex with a prostiute.

In my opinion Meat Shits are a very talented band and they are a very legendary band, if you are a fan of porno grind you probably already have this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "There Is No God" "Bloodbath Cleansing" "Eat My Fuck" and "Fag Killer". RECOMMENDED BUY.

Anal Cunt/I Like It When You Die/Earache Records/1997 CD Review

Anal Cunt are a band from Boston, Massachuessetts that plays a style of music that I would describe as noisecore/grind and this is a review of their classic 1997 album "I Like It When You Die" which was released by Earache Records.

Drums range from some slow to midpaced beats mixed in with alot of fast playing as well as brutal blast beats, while the keyboards when they are utilized are done in the form of comedy and there is no bass playing present on this recording.

Guitars are all rhythm with a mixture of some slow riffs that have a doomy/sludge mixed in with alot of fast noise/grindcore riffs that have a crust/punk edge and at times a 70's metal/rock feel and there are no guitar leads or solos present on this album.

Vocals are mostly high pitched grindcore screams with some crust/hardcore as well as oi style of yelling and at times there are some clean vocals done in a humorous style with some deep death metal growls, while the lyrics are mostly humorous with alot of gay jokes, as for the production it is very raw and primitive sounding.

In my opinion Anal Cunt are a very good noisecore/grind band that have helped created the style and this is a classic album, if you are a fan of noisecore/grind you should already have this album in your collection. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "You Live In A Houseboat" "311 Sucks" and "Looking Drop Dead In McDonalds". RECOMMENDED BUY

Exhumed/Gore Metal/Relapse Records/1999 CD Review

Exhumed are a band from San Jose, California that -plays a brutal form of music which I would describe of gore death/grind and this is a review of their classic 1999 album "Gore Metal" which was released by Relapse Records.

Drums are very fast and brutal with alot of blast beats while the bass playing is mixed down low in the mix and it is all rhythm bass riffs that follows the guitars and at times it has very very powerful sound that you can hear.

Rhythm guitars are a mixture between midpaced and fast brutal death metal riffs with alot of grindcore style speeds while the lead guitars are fast and noisy guitar solos that have some melody.

Vocals are a mixture between low pitched death metal growls mixed in with some high pitched grindcore screams while the lyrics are very gory and deal with many different types of body parts, as for the production on this recording which was recorded at Burnt Offerings Studios by Maurice Acevedo during the month of July during 1998 and mixed by James Murphy sounds very raw while retaining a professional feel

In my opinion this was a classic fro Exhumed who are one of the best gore grind/death metal and if you are a fan of this music you probably already have this album. STANDOUT TRACKS INCLUDE "Necromaniac" "Enucleation" "in My Human Slaughterhouse" "Blazing Corpse" and "Sodomy And Lust". RECOMMENDED BUY
