A Dream Of Poe/For A Glance Of The Lost Lenore/2009 EP Review

A Dream Of Poe are a band from Portugal that plays atmospheric gothic doom metal and this is a review of their live 2009 e.p "For A Glance Of The Lost Lenore".

Drums are mostly slow to midpaced beats with no fast playing or blast beats present on this recording, while the keyboards have a very dark atmospheric sound with a flute being utilized on one song, as for the bass playing it is all rhythm bass that follows the riffs coming out of the guitars.

Rhythm guitars are all slow doom metal riffing that also utilizes a good amount of melody with little or no lead guitars on this e.p while the vocals are all clean singing with no growls and the singing has a very depressing feel and in between songs the singer speaks in his native tongue, as for the lyrics they cover poetic themes as well as a touch of mythology and depression.

Production on this album sounds very professional for a live recording and the concert on this e.p was recorded at October Loud during the year of 2008 and you can hear all of the musical instruments.

In my opinion A Dream Of Poe are a very good band and if you are a fan of gothic doom you should check this band out. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Laudanam" and "For My Fallen Angel" wich is a My Dying Bride cover. RECOMMENDED
