Centuries/Taedium Vitae/Southern Lord/2013 CD Review

Centuries  are  a  band  from  Florida  that  plays  a  dark  hybrid  of  crust,  grind  and  hardcore  and  this is  a  review  of  their  2013  album  "Taedium  Vitae"  which  was  released  by  Soouthern  Lord  Records.

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  a  good  amount  of  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  heavy,  dark  and  brutal  sounding  riffs  that  combine  grind,  d  beat,  crust  and  hardcore  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  along  with  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing  as  well  as  some  melodic  elements  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording.

Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  crust/grindcore  screams  that  have  a  black  metal  feeling  to  them  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  samples,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  heavy,  powerful  and  professional  sound  to  it.

In  my  opinion  Centuries  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  crust,  grind  and  hardcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Incipit  Tragoelia"  "Metus"  "Grave  Cordibuus"  and  "Irrita".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
